August 15th witnessed another launch in the Indian automobile industry with the newly launched BSA Gold Star 650 with a price tag of 3 lakh ex showroom. BSA a renowned heritage brand has entered the Indian market and will offer it’s first offering at Jawa/Yezdi dealerships across the country.

Gold star is powered by 652cc single cylinder liquid cooled motor producing 45bhp and 55nm of torque coupled with a 5 speed gear box. The bike will be offered with 320mm disc brake at the front and 250mm disc brake at the rear along with dual channel ABS. BSA Gold Star is equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster a 12v charging socket and a USB port. On the suspension front it features telescopic suspension at the front and twin shock observers at the back. The bike will come with 6 colour options and the models offered will range from 3 lakh to 3.34 lakh ex-showroom.

Gold Star will rival the well established player in 650 retro category the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has a price tag of 3.03 lakh ex-showroom. Royal Enfield has a really strong hold in the Indian market, it will be interesting to see how well BSA will perform against a well established player like Royal Enfield.
