Mahindra has now officially unveiled the much-anticipated Thar 5 Door Roxx to the media, and it’s already turning heads. The looks were not a surprise at this stage but seem the car undisguised was refreshing. If you love rugged car or if you are an off-road enthusiast, this launch is something you’ll want to know about.
Pricing
If Mahindra manages to deliver Thar Roxx at the price launched today, it would be a miracle. The car will start from 12.99 lacs Ex-Showroom for Petrol Manual RWD and 13.99 lacs for Diesel Manual RWD. Every other variant will understandably be upwards of this. In reality there would be a handful of people who will be lucky enough to get this car at the introductory price. Mahindra has been known for their cunning price tactics to gather news headlines and then just keeps on inflating the price without any explanation.
We all have rarely seen any base model Thars in the past and showrooms does not event commit an estimated deadlines for base variants. If we compare the launch price of RWD Thar with the base model of this Thar, there is a difference of around 3 lacs rupees approx. Keeping this in mind the top model of the Thar Roxx can go upwards of 24-27 lacs rupees. The launch price may manipulate you to think that this car is competing with everyday cars like Creata, Taigun and Grand Vitara, however in reality at this price point the car is actually competing with cars like Jeep Compass, Tata Safari and Innova Hycross.
Key Features
When it comes to features, Mahindra never dissapoints. The Thar 5 Door Roxx is loaded with a range of features to enhance your driving experience:
- Spacious Interior: The 5-door variant obviously provides more space, making it a better choice for families. The additional doors have not only improved the rear seat accessibility but also have improved the overall space in the car. This also enabled the designers of this car to add a practical boot space.
- Advanced Infotainment System: The infotainment is now begger and better. The car now comes equipped with a state-of-the-art dual screen system, with touchscreen on the infotainment and a non touch digital colour panel information cluseter.
- Powerful Engine Options: As expected the Thar 5 Door Roxx is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The 2.0L mStallion 150 TGDi petrol engine and the 2.2L mHawk 130 diesel engine provide ample power and torque, you might ever need.
- Improved Suspension and Ride Comfort: The suspension system has been fine-tuned for better ride quality, to make this a urban jungle animal.

Mahindra’s DNA is very well versed with off-roading capabilities and the Thar 5 door should also not be an exception. With the added benefit of practicality, nothing can stop Mahindra to sell this car in great numbers. If they choose to actually deliver this.
