Today with fuel prices touching the sky running costs of the cars has also increased massively. This hefty monthly expense of fuel refill dents the budget of a lot of people. If you’re someone who drives very rarely like once or twice in a month this article wont be in the best interest of you but people who commute daily to their work using personal vehicle can learn something which can benefit them in the long run.

Here are a few tips which can help you get the most mileage out of your car –

1) Light foot on the accelerator pedal – Keeping a light foot on the A pedal is one of the key point in extracting better fuel economy. Try to keep your RPM between 1500-2000 RPM for best fuel economy. Once car gains a good momentum and is at a decent speed of around 60-80 kmph, lift your foot completely off the A pedal and press it again very lightly. This will keep your car moving at constant speed, this trick can be implemented on the highways and will return unexpected fuel economy numbers.

2) Keeping your car in the right gear – Higher gears at lower speed and lower gears at higher speeds can both negatively affect the fuel economy. It’s very important that your car is at the right gear according to the speed so you can maintain your RPM between 1500-2000 smoothly.

3) Turn auto start stop on – If your car does not have this feature then on the red lights where stop timings are around 60 seconds, you can turn off your engine manually and start it back again once the light is green again

4) Avoid driving with your windows rolled down – This increase the force a car needs to put to move forward, doing this will negatively impact the fuel efficiency.

5) If your car has an eco mode turn it on but make sure that’s not putting stress to your engine as this will negatively impact the efficiency. Best time to use eco mode is on highways once you have gained a constant speed in which you want to move forward.

6) Keep your tyre pressure up, keeping a tyre pressure of around 33-34 PSI will help car moving forward easier and will have a positive impact on the fuel economy.

7) If your drive an automatic just make sure the RPM is between 1500-2000 RPM and foot on the throttle is light

8) Doing timely services and maintenance – This will help your engine to run right and return best fuel efficiency possible
