Mahindra’s Roxx is all set to Launch this Independence day. The anticipation is so high that it almost guarantees this car’s fate in automobile history. The official dates are out by Mahindra through their teaser video.
As much as we would’ve loved the named Thar Armada in the name of nostalgia, Mahindra has gone with the name Roxx. Maybe Mahindra is trying to set the narrative that it would be a all new car.
Powerdrift, the popular automobile content creators has suggested in their Thar Roxx video that, there is a very strong chance that the new Thar will be based on the Scorpio N’s platform. Scorpio N’s platform is a proven platform which would make Thar Roxx an interested drive
Thar 3 door, is considered as an OG. This car has a proven track record in its off-road capabilities. The overall dimensions of this car has hit that sweet spot which compliments its engine even further.
However, it is possible that Mahindra has realised the statistics that Indian users are driving this car mostly on tarmac. The overall car also proved to be a great daily driver.
To capture the market even further, Mahindra came up with Thar RWD. The RWD bridged the gap between pseudo SUVs and a full fledged 4×4 Thar.
After RWD bridged the lower market, the obvious question comes about the next segment. The next segment to capture is the full size SUV cars, this gave the birth to the idea of a 5 Door Thar.
The longer Thar Roxx seems to be the jack of all trades. A car which not only gives you the best driving experience but also, two additional doors for easy accessibility. Even if Mahindra Launches Roxx in two wheel drivetrain, the car would be an instant hit as majority of Thar owners hardly use 4 wheel drive system anyways.
Now the biggest dilemma for Mahindra at the moment is that the biggest Thar competition is Thar. Ideally speaking, Mahindra should cut down on Thar 3 door’s production and full fledged focus on Thar Roxx, to manage the waiting periods. But Mahindra being Mahindra, they will care more about breaking records by having really long waiting periods and not actually delivering cars.
